DOHA: Al Arabi are at the top of the points standings of the Reserve League after their 5-1 win over Al Duhail in the opening round.

In other matches over the weekend, Al Wakra beat Al Rayyan 3-1, Umm Salal beat Al Khor 4-1, Al Shamal beat Al Sailiya 3-1, and Al Sadd drew with Qatar SC 2-2 while Al Ahli and Al Gharafa played a goalless draw.

In the first match, Al Arabi scored the goals through Rami Suhail Rabaa and Muhammad Abu Obeida. Abdulaziz Muhammad scored for Al Duhail.

In the game between Al Sadd and Qatar SC, Adam Mohamed scored the first goal for Al Sadd, followed by Adam Mohamed. Mohamed Mannai managed to score two as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the match between Al Shamal and Al Sailiya, Khalifa Saad and Sayed Ahmed (two goals) scored for Al Shamal while Abdullah Al Marri scored for Al Sailiya. The match witnessed six yellow cards and the expulsion of Al Sailiya player Mishaal Al Shammari.

Umm Salal beat Al Khor following a hattrick by Ali Al Yazidi and a goal by Saud Farhan. Ali Muhammad scored Al Khor’s only goal.

Al Arabi lead the standings with three points by the end of the first-round matches, followed by Umm Salal, Al Shamal, and Al Wakra. Meanwhile, four other teams bagged one point each, keeping them in the fifth to eighth positions, namely Al Ahli, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa and Qatar SC teams.

The last four teams in the table standings without a point are Al Rayyan, Al Sailiya, Al Khor and Al Duhail in the ninth to twelfth positions.
