DOHA: Saudi Arabia’s U-19 side beat hosts Qatar 3-0 to lift the Gulf

Youth Championship at Aspire Dome.

Saudi Arabia exhibited quality ‎football to nail their fourth win in

the tournament.

QFA officials presented the champion’s cup and medals to the winners

and the runners-up.

Hassan Ali and Awad Aljdani (two goals) were the heroes for Saudi


Qatar team struggled with coordinated moves in the final game.

Oman finished second in the tournament whereas the UAE were

placed third. Qatar finished fourth while Bahrain ended last in the

five-team event.

The August 22-September 3 round robin tournament featured teams

from Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia competing for

the regional title.

The Oscar Cano-coached Qatar side is currently preparing for the U-19

Asian Cup to be held in Bahrain later this year.

Qatar are the defending champions, having won the previous edition

in October 2014.
