Sports Exhibition of Al Ahli SC inaugurated
DOHA: The Sports Exhibition of the Al Ahli Sports Club has been inaugurated at Katara.
Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amal Company, and Ali Mohammed Al Ali, Chairman of the Veterans Committee, inaugurated the Sports Exhibition at Hall No. 19.
The exhibition has been set up by Al Ahli SC in cooperation with Qatar Football Association (QFA).
The opening of the exhibition was attended by many sports personalities as well as officials of Al-Ahli SC, both current and former, in view of the importance of the exhibition set up primarily to recap the legacy Qatar’s oldest club.
The committee held yesterday a press conference at the National Club to unveil the exhibition in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Al Ahli SC, Member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Football Association Ali Mohammed Al Ali, Chairman of the Committee of Veterans and a number of former stars such as Mohammed Al Siddiqui, Mohammed Ghanem Al Rumaihi and Hussein Al Khawaja. Arif Abdul Rahman, Executive Director of Al Ahli SC, was also present.
The exhibition will continue until the 28th of this month, which is the fourth held by the Committee of Veterans headed by Ali Mohammed Al Ali.
Previously Sports Exhibition have been set up to showcase history of Al Rayyan SC, Al Sadd SC and Qatar SC.
The exhibition contains trophies, medals and shields won by Al Ahli SC especially the first edition of the Amir’s Cup.
The Most Valuable Player trophy won by Mohammed Ghanem Al-Rumaihi in the third Gulf Cup in 1974 is also on display.
Jerseys and sports memorabilia belonging to Faraj Abbas, Qatar’s second-placed captain at the World Youth Championships in Australia in 1980, and Adel Ahmed Malallah, Qatar captain of the Gulf Cup in Doha in 1992, as well as a number of old stars, are on display at the exhibition.
