DOHA: Syria expects another feisty contest on Tuesday when they take
on Qatar in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game to be played at
Al Sadd Stadium.

Syria coach Ayman Al Hakeem has guided his team to three points from
three matches.

“We consider Qatar as a very strong side. Qatar had good performances
though their results have not been good. We cannot know the final
result until the end of the next period. We have travelled from China.
Our preparation is like any other game,” Al Hakeem said.

“Like I said Qatar is strong. Their previous results do not reflect
their strength,” he added.

“We have been playing like this for six years. That keeps us motivated
despite the crisis back home, despite all that’s happening. We hope we
bring delight to Syrian fans and hopefully we can carry on,” Al Hakeem
said.

Al Hakeem said he is happy to see Syria deliver the goods in this
phase of qualifying.

“This is a historic achievement to be here. The picture is not
complete as to will qualify from the Asian Zone. It will be great to
qualify and be in Russia,” he said.

“Given the circumstances this is the best we could – conceding 1 goal
and scoring 1 goal in three games. We believe in the potential of the
players,” he said.
