DOHA: The Qatari capital and Hamad International Airport have over the past few days been welcoming teams arriving for the AFC East Region Champions League set to take place between November 18 and December 19, 2020.

The first teams to arrive were Ulsan Hyundai FC, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC and FC Seoul from the Korea Republic, along with the Korean contingent, Australia’s Sydney FC and Perth Glory and China’s Guangzhou Evergrande have already touchdown in Qatar.

Vissel Kobe and Yokohama F. Marinos will be the last arrivals on November 21.

Qatar, who are hosting the West Zone matches of the 2020 AFC Champions League, have implemented an array of strict measures to ensure a bio-secure environment for the players and officials.

The steps include mandatory Covid-19 testing, safe transportation, regular sanitizing of all venues, training and media facilities, as well as ensuring the presence of medical staff throughout the competition.

All players and tournament officials were tested for Covid-19 upon their arrival to Qatar. As soon as they arrived in their designated accommodation, players and tournament officials were all placed in a ‘medical bubble’.

Of course, movement outside the bubble has been restricted, and social distancing procedures like wearing masks, utilizing sanitizers and limited capacity transportation have all been implemented.

The steps and protocols have been implemented by the Qatar Football Association (QFA), the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and the Qatar Stars League (QSL) in consultation with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Three of the four venues being used for the tournament are 2022 World Cup venues – Khalifa International Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium and Education City Stadium.
