DOHA: The excitement was clearly visible on the faces of Juventus fans – including Qatar’s very own Juventus supporters club – as they took photos of their heroes training at Aspire Academy on Friday evening.

The Serie A champions are in town along with league rivals and Coppa Italia winners Napoli as both teams prepare to go head-to-head in the Italian Super Cup Final on Monday at the Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (Al Sadd Stadium).

Juventus and Argentina striker Carlos Tevez, who has played at two FIFA World Cup™ finals in Germany and South Africa, as well as winning an Olympic gold medal for his country, was visibly impressed on his first visit to the host country of the 2022 FIFA World Cup™.

Speaking to www.sc.qa, Tevez said: “Qatar getting to host the World Cup is a wonderful thing. It is a beautiful country and deserves that the world find out more about it and seeing it in a different way altogether.

“This is my first visit to Doha. This is an amazing country especially when it comes to the buildings and facilities. We in South America are used to it but these are very beautiful ones here,” the former Manchester United and Manchester City striker added.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said he was confident Qatar would put on a fantastic tournament – whether in summer or winter.

He said: “The conditions are right for success, but they have to decide whether the World Cup will be held in winter or summer. I am sure Qatar will do its best. And I am sure that it will be an excellent tournament.”

The experienced coach who boasts FIFA World Cup™ legends Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon as well as rising stars of this summer’s tournament in Brazil like Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal in his squad, acknowledged the match in Qatar would be a tough one for both of the top sides from Italy.

He added: “The Supercoppa for me is of utmost importance and it’s the same for their team. Napoli are a difficult team. They have a great combination in offence.”

For fans from Italy living in Qatar, the game is a special occasion to see their clubs in action from close quarters.
