U-19s seek quarter-final berth
Jakarta, Indonesia: Qatar coach Bruno Miguel wants his team to adopt an attacking
game against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday when the two sides meet in the AFC U-19
Asian Cup Group A match.
Qatar were handed a 1-2 defeat against UAE in the tournament’s opening match before
beating hosts Indonesia 6-5 in memorable contest last Sunday.
Indonesia and UAE will lock horns simultaneously at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
“It is key to remember that we won the game with Indonesia, and that we still have a
chance of advancing,” said assistant coach Lino Godinho, who will deputize for suspended
head coach Bruno Miguel, referring to the fact that Qatar were, at one stage, 6-1 up against
Qatar will rely heavily on striker Abdulrasheed Umar, whose three goals propelled Qatar to
a 6-1 lead before conceding for consecutive goals in the latter stage of the game against Indonesia.
“We must focus on the positives that we saw in the last game and continue to do what we do well
which is keeping the ball and creating chances.
“There are several plus points which we can take into the game against Chinese Taipei and we
will not change the way we play as we wholeheartedly believe in our methods.”
Having won their opening two matches in the group: UAE currently lead the group with six point,
meanwhile Qatar and Indonesia both have three points.
