U-20s lose to Fiorentina in first Italian friendly
ITALY: The Qatar U-20 national squad kicked off their week-long training camp in Italy with a narrow 3-4 defeat to Fiorentina where they managed to comeback from a two-goal deficit to make it 3-3 before conceding a late fourth goal.
Ahmed Al Saadi, Maaz Al Salmi and Abdulrahman Fahmi scored for Qatar.
The week-long camp is headed by coach Felix Sanchez who led Qatar to winning the U-19 Asian Cup in Myanmar last October.
The young squad is set for another heavyweight friendly against their Italian counterparts on the 29th of this month.
The young squad has finished a similar training camp in Spain last month.
Qatar is poised to feature in the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand next June, a first return to the biennial tournament since hosting it in 1995.
Felix Sanchez’s men were drawn in Group C alongside Portugal, Colombia and a to be determined – next month – African team.
