AFC celebrates Asia's World Cup in Qatar at special gathering

KUALA LUMPUR: FIFA President Gianni Infantino was joined by AFC chief Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and scores of other football officials to celebrate the hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani, Vice President Saud Al Mohannadi, Secretary General Mansoor Al Ansari and Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), joined the AFC family for a dinner party at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. FIFA Secretary-General Fatima Samoura was also present as were Presidents of football bodies from across the Asian continent. At the ceremony Qatar reiterated that it would being the world together by hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. QFA President also lauded the efforts of AFC for taking the game to all corners of the Asian continent. The special gathering for has been called to celebrate the inauguration of the new AFC headquarters in the Malaysian capital. QFA Vice President Al Mohannadi delivered a short speech to highlight Qatar's amazing preparation to stage the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In his speech, he thanked FIFA and AFC chiefs for being supportive of the World Cup preparations in Qatar. He also thanked AFC members for remaining committed to fully supporting a successful edition of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. "We look forward to welcoming the football family to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The event is four years away, but we can't wait for the event to begin," he said.
