The Amir Cup remains the most anticipated football event in Qatar each year, marking the grand finale of the sporting season. It holds immense social, athletic, and cultural value, as the Qatar Football Association (QFA) has transformed the competition into a unique celebration of football, turning it into a carnival for all segments of society through innovative ideas and accompanying events.
Since its inception, the Amir Cup has been the dream of every player, team, coach, and club. Though it concludes the season, it garners attention from the very beginning, as teams aspire to claim the prestigious title and earn the honor of shaking hands with His Highness the Amir, making it the most coveted prize in Qatari football.
All Qatari clubs participate in the competition — both Qatar Stars League (QSL) and Second Division teams — making it the largest football competition in the country, first launched in the 1972–73 season, with Al Ahli winning the inaugural title.
