Qatar Amateur League

The Qatar Football Association places great importance on grassroots and sub-leagues, including the Amateur League. Everyone is committed to ensuring the tournament is organized and conducted at the highest standards each season, delivering broad benefits across various levels, in line with the Association’s vision to develop community football in Qatar and promote a culture of football participation among all.

The Qatar Amateur League was launched in the 2014–2015 sports season with 14 participating teams: Al-Waab, General Command, Friends Union, Airport, Kahramaa, Makeen, the Egyptian Community, Khalifa City, Qatar International, Cyprus, Al-Quds, Al-Dhakhira, Indian Goa, and Indian Kerala.

The final match of the inaugural season was between Al-Waab and Airport, ending in a 2–0 victory for Al-Waab, who secured the first title two weeks before the end of the season.

The aim of organizing the Amateur League is to create a platform that enables all segments of society—social, institutional, and governmental—to engage and interact through organized football events. This supports the expansion of football participation and the growth of talent pipelines in Qatar.

It is worth noting that the team Al-Shabab won the latest title for the 2021–2022 season (eighth edition), Al-Thumama were champions of the 2019–2020 season (seventh edition), and Lusail (formerly known as Al-Lu’lu’a) won the sixth edition. Al-Nasr secured the title in the fifth edition, while Al-Waab leads the league’s all-time record with three titles (first, third, and fourth editions). Amwaj claimed the title in the second edition.
