Doha Bank Stars League

background image

The competition is organized by the Doha Bank Stars League in coordination with the Competitions and Clubs & Players Affairs Department of the Qatar Football Association. It features 12 clubs and is played in two rounds (home-and-away format). The tournament's name was changed from Doha Bank League to QNB Stars League starting from the 2017-2018 season, then renamed again to EXPO Stars League beginning with the 2023-2024 season and reverted to Ooredoo Stars League from the 2024-2025 season onwards.

The league was first held in the 1971 season after multiple developmental stages. Al Sadd Club is the most successful team, having won the championship 18 times, including the 2024-2025 season. Al Duhail won the title for two consecutive seasons (2011/2012) and again for two consecutive seasons (2016-2017 and 2017-2018).

According to the league regulations, team rankings are determined by the total points each club earns throughout all its matches. The club with the highest points is crowned champion. The team finishing 12th is relegated to the second division, while the 11th-placed team plays a playoff match against the second-placed team from the second division to determine participation in the following season's Ooredoo Stars League.
