DOHA: Al Duhail on Sunday were crowned Qatargas U-23 League champions after crushing Al Khuraitiyat 8-0 in at their home turf of Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Qatar Football Association Executive Committee member Hai Balan, Mansoor Al Ansari, QFA and Ali Al Sulaiti, head of Public Relations and Communication in Qatargas preceded over the league’s closing ceremony where they handed over the trophy and gold medals to champions Al Duhail.
Salmeen Rumaihi and Fahad Waad both scored twice for the champions, meanwhile, Khalid Muneer, Saleh Saeed, Rabih Yahya, Ahmed Abdulhai all found the net on one occasion.
Al Duhail, with 17 wins, topped the overall standings, having accumulated 53 points.
In other matches, Al Sadd narrowly edged Al Arabi 2-1, Jassim Al Shammari scored both goals for Al Sadd, while Khalid Ismael scored Al Arabi’s lone goal. The win raised Al Sadd’s tally to 29 points, while Al Arabi’s stopped at 40. Also, Umm Salal beat AL Rayyan 3-1.
