Doha: Baghdad Bounedjah scored a double as Al Sadd defeated Al Kharaitiyat 3-1 to move into the quarterfinals of the Amir Cup on Thursday.
In the match played at Al Duhail Stadium, Abdulkarim Hassan headed home Hamad Ismail's cross to put Sadd ahead in the second minute.
Kharaitiyat gave a good account of themselves and even though their top striker Rachid Tiberkanine missed a penalty in the 15th minute, only managing to hit the post, the Moroccan made amends five minutes later when he beat Sadd goalkeeper Meshal Barshim with a swirling freekick.
However, Sadd regained the lead in the 25th minute through Bounedjah who headed in Ali Asad's cross.
Kharaitiyat were not afraid to attack Sadd but Xavi's side had too much quality on display and Bounedjah took his time to flick in Akram Afif's cross in the 82nd minute.
