DOHA: Producing a fighting display, Second Division side Al Wakrah on Monday
beat team Qatar SC 3-2 despite trailing 2-0 at one time.
For Qatar SC, Patrick Luiz (4 and 30) flicked a ball from close range to open the
scoring for Qatar SC in the Emir Cup match at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Luiz later headed home from close range (30) on a loopy cross from the wing to
double his team's lead in the first half hour. The ball went into the net over the head
of Al Wakrah goalkeeper.
To Al Wakrah's good fortune, Qatar SC's Abdulrahman Abakar (39) scored an
own goal as he tried to head the ball away on a long-range free-kick but the ball
took the deflection and went into the net.
Early in the second half, Hasan Al Hassan (49) flicked the ball from close range to
help Qatar SC draw level with the visitors at 2-2.
In the 58th minute, Prince Ibara - after picking up a neat cross from the middle of
the field - charged ahead towards Qatar SC goal and quickly slipped past the ball
from the edge of the box for the visitors' third goal.
Al Wakrah are now poised to take on Al Arabi in the next round of the Emir Cup.
