Doha: The Documentation Committee – working under the umbrella of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) - plays a major influential role in documenting the history of Qatari football from its inception until now. The documentation includes the history of Qatari clubs and their achievements at all levels. The documentation of Qatar’s football journey will also include the hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Since being established by QFA, the Documentation Committee has set many goals and aspirations aimed at documenting the history of Qatari football to create a reliable reference for fans, stakeholders, sponsors and the state authorities. The brainchild behind the process was initiated by H E Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of QFA, who gave the Documentation Committee special project to showcase Qatar’s glorious football history. TO DOCUMENT THE HISTORY OF QATARI FOOTBALL The Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association issued a decision to establish the Documentation Committee headed by Ali Daoud and Khaled Mubarak Al-Kuwari as Vice President, with Abdullah Ali Al-Muhannadi, Ibrahim Shaheen Al-Sulaiti, Jasim Al-Mulla, Ibrahim Azzam and Mirna Ammar as members in addition to the assistance of a number competent personalities in the field of documentation and archiving. One of its most important tasks was to document everything related to Qatari football so the file becomes a source of reference for all tournaments organized by QFA and to be an important reference for media professionals and players alike. This decision came within the framework of the institutional development that the QFA undertakes in order to raise the level of administrative and organizational work within the federation. The history of Qatari football, over many years, was and is still replete with many achievements and. These sporting achievements have been associated with many important events. The dates that cannot be forgotten as they are engraved in the memory of generations and some of them are related to the people's sentiment, culture and originality. FRUITFUL PARTNERSHIP WITH QATAR NATIONAL LIBRARY What the QFA’s Documentation Committee is doing reflects the great interest of the roles entrusted to it. Since its establishment, the documentation committee has gone a long way while archiving the past. Today we live in a world of knowledge, documentation, the development of communication and information technology - the most important of which is the computer, the Internet, various social media accounts, various digital platforms, devices and other accurate tools that facilitate this documentation. The QFA signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Qatar National Library was done with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experiences to promote scientific development and cultural and technical prosperity in the State of Qatar. Working with a leading and specialized library such as the Qatar National Library will have positive repercussions on sports work in general and football in particular. The MoU, signed in January of this year 2021, laid out a clear framework for cooperation between the two parties in various fields, especially those related to the documentation process in the field of football.
