DOHA: Orphan Care Centre, Dreama, on Sunday welcomed the newly crowned Asian Cup champions at a special gathering.
Qatar beat Japan 3-1 in the final of the Asian Cup on Feb 1 at Zayed Sports City Stadium.
QFA President Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani was joined by the Qatar national team players and coach Felix Sanchez at Dreama where teachers and young kids applauded Al Anabi's history football triumph in the UAE.
The QFA delegation was received by Amal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, Executive Director of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, and Professor Mariam Bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Executive Director of Dreama.
The welcoming ceremony began with a speech from the Executive Director, Maryam Bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad. She thanked the President of the QFA, the players and the technical and administrative staff for visiting Dreama. She also welcomed the presence Amal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, CEO of Qatar Foundation for Social Work.
A cake was cut in the presence of those present at Dreama Centre. A special painting was also presented to the visiting delegation. At the end of the ceremony, there were group photographs taken by the group of children and their teachers.
The Dreama children also took photographs with the Asian Cup trophy.
"The achievement of our national football team by winning the Asian Cup in its 17th edition was the result of sound planning and national will," Mariam Bint Ali Bint Nasser Al Missned said during her remarks. "It was a team triumph and we enjoyed watching the matches."
She pointed out that winning the Asian Cup was also linked to the youth development program at Aspire Academy.
