DOHA: The draw ceremony for the country's most popular football tournament - the Emir Cup - will be held on April 11, it was announced on Monday.
This was confirmed by Hamad Al Mannai, Chairman of the Competitions Committee of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), on Monday.
The draw ceremony will feature members of all teams and officials representing the football clubs, Al Mannai informed in an official communique.
This year QFA will be hosting the 46th edition of the tournament.
He pointed out that there will be a match between the two teams who finish fourth and fifth places in the Second Division and the winner will join the teams that drawn at the ceremony.
Second division clubs include Al Wakra, Muaither, Al Shahaniya, Mesaimeer and Al Shamal.
Al Mannai said QFA expects record crowds to witness the games set to be broadcast live on Al Kass Sports Channel.
"The QFA has the right to choose the format of the tournament. One of the points witnessed last season was executing on the penalty shootout once the game ended in a draw in regulation time. There will be no extra time. This is done to save the players from fatigue of playing long matches that include extra time."
