RIO DE JANEIRO: Asian champions Qatar have launched their official training sessions in the Brazilian city of Rio after arriving there for next month's Copa America.
Set to make their debut in the most popular football tournament in South America, the Qatar squad consists of 28 players under coach Felix Sanchez.
Qatar will feature in the 12-team event that will be held from June 14 to July 7.
Qatar squad is now complete after arriving first in the United States last week minus the players of Al Sadd, Al Duhail and Al Rayyan.
Sanchez’s men will train in Rio, before they lock horns with hosts Brazil in a friendly match at the Mani Garincha Stadium in Brasilia on June 5.
They will also play another friendly on June 9, with opponents yet to be announced.
Sanchez is expected to trim the squad to 23 players following the friendly against Brazil.
Asian champions Qatar will make their Copa America debut and are in Group B along with former World Cup champions Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay.
Japan and Qatar are the two guest teams in the 12-team tournament that also features Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile and Ecuador.
