Islamic Republic of Iran have reclaimed its position as Asia’s top ranked
team despite dropping three places to be 32nd globally in the latest FIFA
World Ranking.

Japan (55th), South Korea (57th), and Saudi Arabia (70th).
France have replaced Germany at the top of the standings, climbing up by
six places after lifting the 2018 FIFA World Cup last month. Les Bleus lead
the world rankings for the first time in over 16 years, while Russia and
2018 WC semi-finalists Belgium replaced Brazil in second position.
The August FIFA rankings are the first ones calculated with a new formula
after the old version had been criticized for favoring teams who played less
friendly games.
