DOHA: Qatar coach Felix Sanchez on Saturday headed the national team’s first training session ahead of the side’s international friendly against Ghana on Monday.
The Qatar squad trained at the main ground of the Titanic Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey.
The national team’s training for the current gathering started on Saturday 3 October until the return date from Turkey on October 13, after which the players will join the ranks of their clubs.
Scheduled for the Turkish city of Antalya, the October 12 match will serve as preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup/2022 World Cup joint qualifiers, which were originally slotted for this year but were postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last week, Sanchez named a 25-member squad that includes key strikers Akram Afif and Al Moiz Ali.
The team’s list included: Saad Al-Sheeb, Pedro Miguel, Tariq Salman, Abdel-Karim Hassan, Boualem Khoukhi, Hassan Al-Haydos, Akram Afif, Musab Khusar, Muhammad Waad and Ahmed Suhail (Al-Sadd).
