Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Last season's Asian Player of the Year Abdulkarim Hassan on Friday was thrilled with Qatar's 1-0 won over Korea.
"The team is thrilled with the performance, " Hassan said. "We dedicate this win to the leadership of the country.
"The support of the leadership is what makes the difference," said Hassan who was suspended for the match held at Zayed Sports City Stadium..
"It was a fighting effort. Korea is one of the giants of Asia. To beat them is immensely pleasing," he added.
"It was a disciplined effort. The coach laid out the plans and we carried out the instructions well. This is the first time we have reached the semis of Asian Cup," Hassan said.
"We have to thank the Omani fans, who stood with us and supported us strongly. It was their support that boosted our morale," Hassan said.
Bassam Al-Rawi, the heart of Qatar's backline, said: "We congratulate the entire country. We are a happy side today."
He added: "We proved that we are not affected by the absence of key players. Despite the absence of Abdulkarim Hassan and Asim Madibo, it was a big match for us.
Salem Ali did well as a replacement for this big match."
