DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) will kick off its Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations across the country with a series of special events.
The QFA events will take place at Darb Al Saai, Koora Time Initiative in cooperation with Shell Qatar, and a national flag tour in cooperation with the Qatar Olympic Committee. The third and final event will take place at Al Khor Residential Complex where a tournament will be staged.
The QFA's plans have been planned to enhance the role of the football body to link its events with the participation communities living in the country.
Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communication, QFA, said: "The QFA is participating in these major events on the Qatar National Day (QND) to link our activities with the communities in Qatar. Our activities also align with QFA's 2021 Vision in which we want everybody leading a healthy life through sport. We will participate in the events of Darb al Saai, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and at Al Khor city."
Al Kuwari also said QFA's participation in QND activities is done on the directive of QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani.
The participation of QFA at Darb Al Saai will be part of the KOORA Initiative, an award winning initiative designed to improve the health and well-being of young people in Qatar through football. The project is implemented in cooperation between QFA and Shell Qatar. Since the launch of the KOORA Initiative in 2013, more than 17,500 students have benefited from the various plans and activities. This will be the second participation of QFA at Darb Al Saai where thousands of visitors are expected over the QND week.
The events will last for 10 days at Darb Al Saai which will start on December 12. Activities will include tournaments in various age brackets in morning and evening sessions. Billiards Football and Virtual Reality Football will also be part of the activities. A special QFA pavilion has also been set up to receive guests throughout the 10-day period. In another activity, Qatar's U-19 players - who will feature at U-20 FIFA World Cup in Poland - along with officials and team management - will also visit the QFA pavilion.
Darb Al Saai, one of the major attractions of Qatar National Day 2018 celebrations, gives many the opportunity to celebrate as well as learn about achievements of the country. This event will be nine days long and will end on December 20.
One of the main attractions at the QFA section at Darb Al Saai will be Tembah League; a football tournament held between kids in third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Teams will be divided into groups before knockout stages.
A special program will be held on Thursday, December 13th, at the Qatar Olympic Committee. Athletes and officials who featured at the Asian Games in Indonesia earlier this year will also take part in QND celebrations organised at QOC.
A special football tournament will be hosted by the Al Khor Complex on December 15 for an entire day. There will be a series of activities and activities starting at 7:30 am. The tournament will start at 1:15 pm. There will be awards for the first three including trophies and medals as well as prizes for the best player, goals, goalkeeper and best team for fair play.
