DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Tuesday kicked off an Elite Referees Workshop that will last until December 20.
The five-day workshop will feature more than 80 referees.
The workshop comes within the framework of QFA’s Referees Department to help new referees gain in experience and prep up for bigger assignments – at home and abroad - in the future.
Physical fitness and use of VAR will be key at the discussions during the workshop. Video tests and training sessions have also been planned. Football law will also be detailed and discussed during the five-day workshop, QFA said.
The opening session was attended by Massimo Busacca - Director of the FIFA Referees Committee, Mike Van der Rost - Head of FIFA Video Technology, and an international referee specializing in video technology from the Netherlands Football Association.
In the past also, QFA and FIFA have joined hands to conduct such sessions for the overall development of refereeing and the game as a whole.
