QFA, MOI launch awareness initiative on sports security around stadiums, events

  DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) and the Ministry of Interior (MOI), represented by the Stadium Security Department, are participating in the "You Are Important" initiative coinciding with the quarter-final matches of the Amir Cup. The awareness campaign aims to enhance community awareness of stadium security and to consolidate the security partnership between the community and the security services. The aim of the initiative is to build an intellectually, culturally and behaviorally advanced generation who would be watching live sports action in times to come. The initiative aims at educating communities living in Qatar about security by holding seminars, lectures, activities and field visits. "This initiative comes to achieve noble goals so that everyone contributes to maintaining security because security is everyone's responsibility," Khaled Mubarak Al-Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communication Department at QFA, said. Al Kuwari affirmed that QFA is looking forward to a fruitful partnership with the MOI in all its sectors, especially the Facilities and Authorities Department represented by the Stadium Security Department, as this sector plays an influential role in the sports industry.   Brigadier Dr Ali Khajim Al-Athbi, Director of the Facilities and Authorities Security Department, said: “The 'You Are Important' initiative is an advanced community model to create awareness about the interdependence of security and sports. Such initiatives are an extension of the tasks and specializations of the administration that is constantly seeking to develop it’s capabilities, it’s human resources, and its readiness to face all challenges. “ Brigadier Jassim Muhammad Al-Hail, Assistant Director of the Administration of Facilities and Authorities Security, said: “Our department works within the Ministry of Interior system that seeks to achieve regional and international leadership by achieving more security stability and contributing to the development of sports events especially with regards to securing the 2022 FIFA World Cup.” ENDS
