DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani on Monday met with Filemon Vela, the US Democrat Representative for Texas 34th congressional district, at the Al Bidda Tower.
Nasser Al Khater, Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Delivery and Legacy, Mushtaq Al Waeli, Executive Director of the Strategic and Institutional Development Office of QFA, and Ali Daoud, Executive Director of the QFA President's Office, were also present during the meeting.
The meeting saw QFA President and the visiting American delegate talking about Qatar's preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The officials also discussed ways and means to further develop the football relations between Qatar and the US.
The congressman said the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar remained a a historic opportunity to accelerate human and economic development in the country and the region as a whole.
It is worth mentioning that US will be co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup along with Canada and Mexico.
