DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has signed an MoU with Turkish
football authority.
QFA Present Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani headed a high
level delegation to Istanbul where he met with Yildirum Demiroren, President
of Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
QFA Secretary General Mansoor Al Ansari was also present during the meeting
in which matters of mutual interests were discussed in detail.
Ali Dawood Al Shukri, President of the Office of the President, was also present.
During the meeting, the TFF President fully endorsed the staging of the 2022 FIFA
World Cup in Qatar, saying the event would usher in a new era of football fans and
bring the region together through sports. The TFF President praised Qatar for hosting
a plethora of top international events for over two decades.
TFF Vice President Servet Yardimci was also present during the meeting.
The QFA President visited the offices of the TFF where he was taken around the
vast training facilities also.
Later the QFA President and his Turkish counterpart held detailed discussions on ways
and means to develop football in the two countries. It was agreed upon to create a
mechanism through which youth football got the best of support from both countries.
The QFA President thanked Demiroren for the invite to visit Istanbul and for opening
ways to boost football in the two countries. He said Qatar remained committed to
developing football not just in Qatar but in the Arab world as well.
The two officials are expected to meet at next month's FIFA Congress to be held in
Moscow, just three days before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
