QFA signs MoUs with South American countries

DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has signed a series of MoUs with the South American football family to promote and develop football across the two continents.   An MoU has been signed with the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) besides another MoU with Argentine Football Association (AFA).   His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of QFA, signed the first agreement with Mr. Alejandro Dominguez, President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and the second with Mr. Claudio Tapia, President of AFA.   The QFA President expressed his happiness to sign the two agreements especially since they were signed in the home of football in the South American continent where football remains the numbe one sport.   The signing of agreements took place after all the stakeholders completed detailed discussions on how to develop and promote the game across the continents.   The meeting was also attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.   During the meeting, Qatar was invited to participate in the Copa America 2019 tournament in Brazil. The signing ceremony was followed by the signing of the cooperation agreement between between QFA and South American football authorities.   For his part, President Alejandro Dominguez, said that the signing of the agreement with the QFA will lead to greater improvement in the way football is followed and played around the world.   He hoped that Qatar's participation in Copa American 2019 would help Al Anabi raise its overall football stature.   FIFA President Infantino said he was very pleased with the great cooperation between the QFA and South American football authorities.
