Stadiums to host AFC Champions League in Qatar unveiled

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced four stadiums that will host the AFC Champions League matches from the Group Stage to the Semi-finals, which will take place from Sept 14 to Oct 3, 2020.   The matches will be held in four stadiums: Al Janoub Stadium, Khalifa Stadium, Education City Stadium and Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.   Last month, the Asian football's governing body announced the September resumption of the AFC Champions League and the AFC Cup, which were suspended in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Group A, which includes Al Wehda of UAE, Police of Iraq, Esteghlal of Iran and Al Ahly of Saudi Arabia, will be held at Khalifa International Stadium.   Group B, which includes Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, Shabab Al Ahli of UAE, Pakhtakor of Uzbekistan and Shahr Khodro of Iran, will be held at Al Janoub Stadium.   Group C, which includes Al Duhail of Qatar, Al Taawoun of Saudi Arabia, Persepolis of Iran and Sharjah of UAE, will be held at the Education City Stadium.   Meanwhile, Jassim bin Hamad Stadium which will host Group D matches will include Al Sadd of Qatar, Al Ain of UAE, Sepahan of Iran and Al Nasr of Saudi Arabia.   The AFC had earlier reiterated its commitment to complete the 2020 AFC Club Competitions in a centralised venue with all matches in the Group Stage for both the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup to be played in full and the knock-out stages consisting of single match ties.   Member Associations had until July 24, 2020 to submit their interest to host the AFC Champions League matches in the East Zone and July 17, 2020 to stage the AFC Cup matches.
