Strict health and preventive protocols to maintain safety

DOHA: Following the successful organisation of the West Zone group and knockout matches of 2020 AFC Champions League, Qatar is all set to step in yet again successfully as a centralised venue for the East Zone phase of Asia's elite continental competition. The tournament will witness 15 teams battling it out across 40 matches to decide the  finalist against Iran's Perspolis who had won the West Zone competition held between 14 September and 3 October. To ensure the safe and gradual return of Asian football, and in line with the State of Qatar’s commitment to limit the spread of COVID-19, an array of strict measures have been implemented to guarantee a bio-secure environment for the players and officials. A series of strict health and preventive measures have been taken and mock evacuation drills have been conducted with regards to the security and safety of the tournanment stadiums and training venues. The preventive measures include all participants undergoing a COVID-19 examination, the use of safe transportation and regular sterilization of all stadiums, training sites and media facilities in addition to allocating medical teams inside the stadiums throughout the competition period. In terms of safety and security measures for the tournament stadiums and facilities, a process has been implemented to conduct mock evacuation of stadiums with the aim of ensuring increased readiness to face any emergency. These procedures and measures aim to produce the championship in a distinctive way at all levels.
