The West Asia Football Federation holds General Assembly

DOHA: The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) held its 10th regular General Assembly meeting on Saturday in which Secretary-General Mansour Al Ansari represented QFA. Member countries Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon and Yemen joined in via video communication. Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of WAFF, chaired the meeting, where he praised the significant role of all member federations in promoting football in its various sectors, whether during the past years or the recent period Corona pandemic sweeping the globe. WAFF President praised the efforts of the 12 federations for their transparent and pioneering contributions that always seek to improve the football system in their respective countries. The meeting stressed that the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted football negatively, which motivated WAFF to make additional efforts to compensate for the interruptions. WAFF intensified its administrative activities by holding a series of workshops and training courses covering all fields. During the meeting, the minutes of the previous General Assembly were reviewed, which was approved by the federations' representatives. The General Assembly was also briefed on the Federation's Executive Committee report, which included all the activities that took place since the last meeting until now, which had many tournaments, administrative actions, training and refereeing courses and workshops in various fields. The General Assembly then reviewed the financial statements of WAFF ( 2017, 2018 and 2019), the financial receivables, the 2021 budget and the expected revenues and expenses. All of the decision were approved after Khalil Al-Salem, the WAFF General Security, gave a detailed explanation indicating the AFC's support and steps WAFF, in partnership with the civil federations, took to overcome challenging financial circumstances. The proposed amendments to the WAFF's Articles were also approved, the most important of which was the formation of a board of directors to consist of the president, two vice-presidents, at least one board member (female), a person representing the WAFF in the Executive Office of the AFC and seven board members in the WAFF. Current committees namely: competitions, financial, media and marketing and judicial bodies represented by the Discipline and Ethics Committee and the Appeals Committee, and the creation of permanent and independent committees were retained. The Development Committee, the Elections Committee and the Legal Committee were also kept. WAFF will remain in its current formation until 2023, it was announced on Saturday.
