Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the AFC U-16 Championship saw Qatar in Group A with Bahrain, North Korea, and Iran.
The competition is set to take place from November 25 to December 12 in Bahrain. The draw took place at the headquarters of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Kuala Lumpur.
Three-time winners and defending champions Japan are set to face Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and China PR in Group D. Tajikistan, the 2018 runners-up, were drawn in Group B alongside Oman, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates. Two-time champions Korea Republic, who finished third in 2018, were drawn in Group C with Australia, India and Uzbekistan.
The 2020 version will be the 19th edition of the biennial tournament which will serve as the qualification path for the 2021 U17 World Cup.
This edition will be the last to be played as an U16 tournament, as the AFC have proposed switching it from U16 to U17 format from 2023.
