Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Qatar’s Bualem Khokhi on Tuesday lauded Qatar's team's magnificent 4-0 win over rivals UAE, saying the boys were playing as 'one unit'.
Boualem Khoukhi (22), Almoez Ali (37), Hassan Al Haydos (81) and Hamid Ismail (90 + 4) were the goal heroes as Qatar crushed UAE in a battle that was marred by poor crowd disturbances.
"As I said we are playing as a team, as one unit. The win is not a personal achievement - the win is the effort of the entire team," Khokhi said on Tuesday.
“I want to congratulate our loyal supporters, their emphatic support is the fuel for our success, knowing that the whole nation certainly gives you the needed boost to overcome any obstacle”.
Playing against Japan in the final, the Al Sadd midfielder said: "We have reached the final on the strength of top performances against solid teams. I am talking about teams like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Korea and the UAE. We will now eye win against Japan also."
Khokhi said on Tuesday: "We have played organized football right from the time most of us were at Aspire Academy. And now to play in similar fashion with the national team is also very thrilling. It has been a wonderful show and we have enjoyed ourselves."
"We have done well as the Asian level against top Asian sides. Now we play Japan. We must do our best to achieve something great for Qatar," he added.
