RIYADH: Reaching the semifinals of the 2014 Gulf Cup is a chance for
the team to prove its mettle, Qatar Football Association (QFA)
President said on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Qatar played out a goalless draw against Bahrain to
qualify for the last-four of the tournament.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani said: "I am pleased to see
our side reach the semifinals. This is our chance to show we are a
force at this level."
He added: "I wish the players and the coaching staff the very best.
They should play with confidence. Remember no team has been able to
beat us."
He said the Qatar players needed to focus more on attacks and ensure
they scored when they got the chances.
Qatar have played three goalless draws - against Saudi Arabia, Yemen
and Bahrain - in the event so far.
"I won't say I am happy with the draws but our target was to reach the
semifinals which we have done," QFA President said.
