Doha: His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the country, received the players of the Qatar national  team at Lusail Palace today, congratulating them on their qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Amir praised the players' outstanding performance and their significant sporting achievement, which enhances the trajectory of sport and football in the State of Qatar.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, the Deputy Amir, and His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Personal Representative of the Amir. Also present were His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Head of the Amiri Diwan, His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, and His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, President of the Qatar Football Association, along with a number of senior officials.

At the start of the meeting, His Highness the Amir congratulated the players and the administrative and technical staff on their victory and qualification for the upcoming tournament, to be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. He urged the players to continue their hard work and excellence, ensuring they represent Qatar admirably alongside the other qualified brotherly Arab national teams at the FIFA World Cup 2026, and wished all the teams success in their future regional and international championships.
