Vienna, Austria: Qatar suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Croatian domestic team in their first friendly match during the training camp in Austria. The friendly serves as preparation for their participation in the Concacaf Gold Cup, hosted by the United States and Canada from June 24 to July 16.
The only goal of the match was scored by Igor Matanović in the 79th minute. The Qatari team, led by Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, provided opportunities for a significant number of players, fielding two different lineups in each half. The Croatian experience proved to be very beneficial for our national team.
This friendly match marks the beginning of the second phase of the preparation program during the training camp in Austria, which started on May 29 and will continue until June 20. The team will play three more friendly matches during this period.
The second match will take place on June 15 against Jamaica, while the third friendly will be against New Zealand on June 19. The team will then travel to the United States on June 20.
