DOHA: El Jaish improved their chances of finishing among the top
four with a 5-1 thrashing of relegated Al Shamal in the Qatar Stars
League on Friday.
Brazilian forward Romarinho was the chief architect of their victory as
he netted a brace (15th and 47th). Abdulkader Ilyas (29th), Yousef
Muftah (68th) and Mohammed Muntari (77th) were their other scorers.
Shamal’s lone goal came through Ali Mejbal in the 92nd minute.
Meanwhile, Al Arabi defeated Al Ahli 2-0, with goals from Sergio Dutra
(63rd) and Paulinho (76th).
In another match, Al Khor and Al Kharaitiyat played out a 1-1 draw.
Jordanian forward Hassan Abdelfattah put Kharaitiyat ahead in the
39th while Julio Cesar equalised in the 48th.
