Al Arabi name Romania's Petrescu as new coach

DOHA: Former Romanian international and Dynamo Moscow coachDaniel Petrescuhas signed a deal to manage QSL outfit Al Arabi for the 2014-15 season. A former Chelsea star, Petrescu played for the English Premiership side from ’95 to 2000 and won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and Super Cup with them. As a player, he is famous for having played forSteaua Bucharestin the1989 European Cup Finaland winning theUEFA Cup Winners' CupandUEFA Super CupwithFA Premier LeagueclubChelsea. Petrescu also received 95 international caps for the Romanian National side. The 46-year-old had met with Arabi club officials last week. Petrescu had signed a three-year contract with the Russian club in August, ’12, but was fired in April this year after the team’s 0-4 defeat to Anzhi Makhachkala in the league.
