DOHA: Led by talisman Tabata,Al Rayyan on Friday celebrated their ascent to
the Qatar Stars League (QSL) by crushing Al Markhiya 5-0 in their opening
Emir Cup clash.
Al Rayyan were demoted to the Second Dvision at the end of the 2013-14
season but won a promotion when they topped the Qatargas League last
week.
Friday's 5-0 win was easily managed when Brazilian striker Rodrigo
Taba fired two goals while HamidIsmail also chipped in with a brace.
Ukrainian Marko Devic scored the fifth goal at Grand Hamad Stadium.
The next phase will start on April 28 when four matches will be played
at Al Arabi Stadium and Qatar SC's home turf.
In the other round 1 game,Mesaimeer edged fellow second divison outfit
Muaither 2-1.
Rashid Mohammed opened the scoring for Mesaimeer in the 26th minute. The
same player then went on to addthe second just seven minutes later.
Muaither tried to get back in the game and save thier season but managed only
a consolation goal through Wallinson Xavier.
