DOHA: Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Saudi Arabia’s Al Taawon played
out a 2-2 draw in the fourth round of Group A of the GCC Club
Championship at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Tuesday.
Al Rayyan initiated a number of attacks through Ahmed Alaa,
Rodrigo Tabata and Lucho but found themselves on the back
foot at half-time as Ismael Al Magrabi scored twice for the
visitors on 28 and 44 minutes.
However, Brazilian Rodrigo Tabata pulled one back for the Qatar
second division outfit on 66 minutes. Before defender Mousa
Haroun leveled the scoreline just seven minutes before full
time.
Qatar's other representatives Al Arabi were shockingly prematurely
eliminated after losing to Oman's Al Seeb
Al Rayyan now are second in Group A with 5 points and have secured
a spot in the next round alongside Saudi’s Al Taawon who are one
point ahead.
