In the battle of the former champions at the Lekhwiya Stadium on Thursday, Sadd blanked Lekhwiya 3-0, with goals from Nadir Belhadj (26th), Rodrigo Tabata (50th) and Khalfan Ibrahim (57th). In another one-sided match, El Jaish piled more misery on Al Sailiya, thrashing them 5-1. Khaled Abdulrauf (35th), Yasser Abubaker (54th), Romarinho (63rd), Mohammed Muntari (70th) and Abdulkader Ilyas (86th) scored for the winners while Mohammed Salah scored the only goal for Sailiya in the 73rd. An all-important goal from Dioko Kaluyituka (47th) helped Al Ahli see off Al Shamal. In the day’s other game, Umm Salal and Al Wakrah played out a goalless draw.
