Doha: Qatar Stars League (QSL) leaders Al Sadd extended their lead over second-placed Lekhwiya by four points as they routed Al Khor 4-1 at home yesterday.
Midfielder Rodrigo Barbosa Tabata gave the “Wolves” an early lead by scoring in the 12th minute but William Junior Souza brought Al Khor back into the match by converting a penalty in the 43rd minute. The visitors’ joy was short-lived, however, as Abdelkerem Hassan again put Al Sadd in the lead in the dying moments of the first-half.
Hussein Amouta’s side continued their clinical performance in the second-half as Tabata scored again in the 69th minute and the fourth goal crashed into the back of the net in the 75th.
Al Sadd should have had a fifth goal but Hassan failed to score from the penalty spot in the 85th minute.
In yesterday’s other matches, Al Sailiya beat Al Wakrah 4-3 in a fighting encounter and Qatar SC were held by Al Kharitiyat.
Today Al Shamal play Al Gharafa at home, El Jaish take on Al Shahaniya, Lekhwiya play Al Arabi and Al Ahli
