Arab Cup U-20 Draw Unveiled; Qatar Placed in Group B

DOHA: The draw for the Arab Cup U-20 was made today at Hilton Hotel on Tuesday. Eight Arab teams from across the region have participated in the draw and are set to compete in Doha from 2nd June 2014 until 14th June 2014. Qatar are placed in Group B. The draw was conducted by Walid Al Kurdi, Member of the Local Organising Committee and General Coordinator of the tournament, and Ali Al Dayfan, Competition Committee Coordinator. The Draw Ceremony was attended by various QFA and UAFA officials. Joining them were Ali Jassim Al Muftah, CEO of Arab Cup U-20 Organising Committee and UAFA’s General Secretary, Saeed bin Ali Jamaan. Ali Jassim Al Muftah, CEO of Arab Cup U-20 Organising Committee, said: “Hosting the Arab Cup U-20 is very important for our U-19 Team because it will act as a good preparation for the AFC U-19 Championship 2014 that will take place in Myanmar in October. Qatar’s team is considered one of the strong teams, not just in the Arab region but also in the Asia region. Arab Cup-20 is not at the level of the Gulf, but the Asian level, pointing out that all the possibilities available, and that the team is well-equipped for a long time.” He added: “Qatar U-19 team should easily qualify to later stages of the tournament as they are set to undergo extensive training ahead of the tournament. They are in Group B, with KSA, Sudan and Lebanon which means they will play strong matches as these are strong regional teams. Group A of the tournament includes Tunisia, Iraq, Mauritania, and Djibouti while Group B includes Qatar, Sudan Lebanon, and KSA.
