CANBERRA: Qatar will look to the next two matches to turn things around following an unexpected defeatat the hands of the UAE in their opening Asian Cup clash, coach Djamel Belmadi said on Sunday. Qatar took the lead through Khalfan Ibrahim but a brace each from forwards Ahmed Khalil and Ali Mabkhout gave the UAE a comprehensive 4-1 win over Gulf Cup champions Qatar in their AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Group C opener at Canberra Stadium on Sunday. "We will not give up on hopes of advancing in this tournament," Belmadi said on Sunday. "We have two games remaining. It was a disappointing show but will continue to improve," the Algerian added. "A clear lack of focus cost us the match," Belmadi said. "We had the right bunch on the pitch but they (the players) were not so coherent," he added. Belmadi said it was a tough game for goalkeeper Qasem Burhan, saying: "It was not his day and he committed serious errors. We also suffered in the absence of skipper BilalMohammed who had a back injury." He added; “There were no positives to take from this game. They were better than us, showed more quality and more creativity. If we analyse goal by goal there were a lot of individual mistakes for their equaliser and in the second half it was two free-kicks for them that made the difference. After that it was really difficult to come back in the game against good opponents like the Emirates." Belmadi said: “I tried to help us come back into the game with some changes but we didn’t do enough and it was too late to equalise. Our players were focused and prepared for this game, so we cannot say our defeat was due to a lack of preparation or focus, we will have to search for the reason for this loss.”
