Doha: Qatar's coach, Portuguese Carlos Queiroz, was delighted by his team's 3-0 win over India in the Preliminary Joint Qualification – Round 2 match for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
During the post-match press conference, Queiroz stated: "Our goal from the beginning was to get 6 points from the two matches, and we achieved that and finished our first task at the top of the group; this puts us at a comfortable position ahead of the remaining group matches."
He continued, "How eager we were to win was also apparent. We dominated play, made excellent offensive attempts, emerged victorious, and tallied three goals. The players played well throughout both halves of the game, with only a few lapses in performance".
He was asked about substitute Youssef Abdel Razzaq's late goal and replied, "The result confirms the hard work done by the players, and this is not easy." Being able to concentrate for a full 90 minutes is quite essential. The guys gave it their all the whole game, and that's what we aim for in every game".
He continued, saying, "I am proud of what the team presented, winning the two matches and obtaining 6 points, and we will strive our hardest to complete the journey towards qualifying for the World Cup."
