HAMILTON, New Zealand: Goalkeeper Hassan Yousof on Monday said his
team's hard-fought clash against Colombia could help Qatar win their
last two matches at the FIFA U-20 World Cup this week.
Striker Joao Rodriguez scored the only goal of the match in the 24th
minute in the Group C clash on Sunday but Yousof - who managed a
string of bold saves - saw positives from the loss at Waikato Stadium.
"There were some mistakes in the first half but we recovered in the
second with good moves," Yousof said on Monday after Qatar completed a
90-minute training session in light drizzle at Porrit Stadium.
"We hope to get a favorable result in the next two matches," he added.
"We have got good practice from this game," Yousof, who thwarted two
dangerous Rodriguez attacks in the first half on Monday, said.
"It was a difficult game against a side we had never played before. I
think there were nerves. We made some mistakes in the first half but
we did well in the second half," the 19-year-old added.
"I think we will have a better game in the next clash," the
Belgium-based goalkeeper said.
"I wish we had some luck running our way but that didn't happen,"
Yousof said. "We had three good chances to score but could not convert
those chances," he added.
