Bangkok: Two-time winners Korea Republic emphatically secured a return to the final of the AFC U-16 Championship for the first time in six since years after recording an impressive 7-1 win over Syria at Rajamangala Stadium on Wednesday. Spain-based striker Jang Gyeol-hee scored twice, which included the fifth minute opener that had handed Korea a slender one-goal lead at half-time of the semi-final, while Barcelona Lee Seung-woo was also on target with his fifth goal in four games. They will lock horns against DPR Korea, who edged out Australia 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Wednesday's semi-final. With chances at a premium during a hard-fought contest, Park Yong-gwan's strike just after half-time appeared to have secured victory for DPR Korea only for Australia substitute Daniel Arzani to equalise with five minutes remaining. But with goalkeeper Ri Chol-song saving from Jake Brimmer and Jackon Bandiera in the shootout, 2010 champions DPR Korea will face Korea Republic in Saturday's final.
