DOHA: El Jaish, reduced to 10 men early on in the second half, turned in a fighting performance to defeat defending champions Al Sadd 1-0 in the third round of the Qatar Stars League at the Lekhwiya Stadium on Friday. In a match which saw Jaish dominate the proceedings in the first half and defend purposefully in the second, Mohammed Muntari struck the all-important goal in the 15th minute. In another game, Al Rayyan, who were lying at the bottom of the table after the second round, registered their first victory by handing Al Khor a 4-0 defeat. Jarallah Al Marri (46th), Rodrigo Tabata (50th), Daniel Goumo (85th) and Mohammed Al Neel (95th) scored for the Emir’s Cup champions. Al Wakrah continued their good run as they scored a come-from behind win over Umm Salal. Brazilian Michel Souza (56th) and Anwar Diba (85th) scored for the winners after Ibrahima N’Diyae put the men in orange ahead in the (13th) minute. Elsewhere, Mousa Al Allaq netted an 83rd-minute winner as Qatar Sports Club consigned Al Kharaitiyat to their first defeat.
