Doha: Al Sadd smashed Lekhwiya’s hopes of winning a domestic treble and set up an Emir’s Cup final with El Jaish. In the semifinal at the Al Sadd Stadium on Friday, holders Sadd defeated the cops 2-0, thanks to a fantastic double from Qatar international forward Hassan Al Haidous. Al Haidous ended the goalless stalemate after Brazilian forward Muriqui teed him up with a gentle push following a fine run through the middle while he swirled home a long free-kick later. Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Romarinho scored a goal and did the spade work for the other as Jaish booked their maiden Emir’s Cup final with a 2-1 win over Qatar Sports Club. Prolific scorer Hamdi Harbaoui put Qatar SC ahead in the first half while Abdulkader Ilyas equalised later in the session after Romarinho’s effort bounced back off the right post. Romarinho founded the back of the net with another fine effort in the second half.
