Doha: El Jaish and Qatar Sports Club coasted to easy wins over Al Rayyan and Al Shahaniya to make it to the semi-final stage of the Emir Cup. Yesterday at Lekhwiya Stadium, El Jaish went on a goal scoring spree in the second half to register a 5-1 win over Al Rayyan. After a barren first half, El Jaish opening the scoring four minutes into the second session. Al Rayyan, who has earned a promotion back into next year’s Qatar Stars League (QSL), kept the El Jaish strikers at bay for the first half succumb to pressure in the second half. Romarinho ripped open the Al Rayyan defense in the 49th minute to give the lead. Buoyed by an early second half, El Jaish stepped up the pressure and added the second one six minutes later. Methnani found the target for El Jaish to make it 2-0. El Jaish consolidated the lead in the 72nd minute with Lucas getting his name on the scorers list, 3-0. Al Rayyan defense continued to cave in with Abdulkader (85) and Wagner (90) scoring two goals within a span of five minutes to make it 5-0. Al Rayyan’s managed to salvage some pride with a late goal. Rodrigo Tabata pulled one back in 90th minute.
